Your New Role

Hays are delighted to be supporting a well-established public sector organisation in the appointment of an experienced Information Governance & Corporate Complaints Officer on an initial three-month contract.

This is an excellent opportunity for a governance professional with significant experience of information governance, data protection, statutory information requests, and complaints management. Working within a busy governance function, you will provide specialist advice and operational leadership across a range of compliance and corporate governance activities.

The successful candidate will be confident working with senior stakeholders, interpreting complex legislation, and managing high-profile or sensitive cases. You will play a key role in ensuring the organisation continues to meet its statutory obligations whilst driving best practice across information governance and customer feedback processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert advice on information governance, data protection, freedom of information, and related compliance matters.
  • Lead and coordinate responses to statutory information requests, including FOI, SAR, and EIR enquiries.
  • Support the management of complex complaints investigations, ensuring fair and robust resolutions.
  • Advise managers and stakeholders on governance risks, regulatory requirements, and best practice.
  • Assist with Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and wider data protection compliance activities.
  • Support the maintenance of information asset registers, records management processes, and data retention frameworks.
  • Work closely with senior colleagues to strengthen governance arrangements and improve organisational compliance.
  • Contribute to policy development, procedural reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support the investigation and management of data incidents where required.
  • Promote awareness of governance responsibilities through guidance, coaching, and staff engagement activities.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
