Information Governance Manager & Deputy Data Protection Officer

Objective of Role
You will lead and shape information governance strategy across Richmond and Wandsworth Councils, ensuring robust compliance, strong assurance, and continuous improvement in how information is managed and protected. You will safeguard public trust and act as Deputy Data Protection Officer, supporting statutory responsibilities and influencing decision-making at the highest levels.
About The Role
- Lead development and implementation of information governance policies and frameworks
- Drive continuous improvement in compliance and risk management
- Oversee audits, DPIAs, breach management and information rights services
- Act as senior escalation point for complex cases
- Support the Data Protection Officer in statutory responsibilities
- Build relationships with senior officers, Members and regulators
- Lead and develop the Information Governance team
- Deliver training and corporate reporting

Essential Qualifications, Skills And Experience
- Significant senior-level experience in information governance and data protection
- Ability to develop and assure governance frameworks
- Experience managing high-risk or sensitive data protection issues
- Strong knowledge of DPIAs, audits and legislation
- Confidence advising senior stakeholders and regulators
- Track record of leading high-performing teams
