Summary
As an Information Management Officer, you’ll drive improvements in information governance, digital workflows, and compliance across an organisation with impact on planning, communities, and the UK economy. You’ll ensure seamless use of SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, and other digital tools while shaping better decision-making through structured, accessible data. Working with cross-functional teams, you’ll champion FOI/EIR processes, training programs, and stakeholder collaboration—shaping the future of digital governance.

Key Responsibilities
Information Management
- Design, improve, and build SharePoint sites and Microsoft Teams workflows for structured, compliant, and user-friendly information access.
- Lead the organisation’s transition to best-practice digital information governance models.
- Provide training, guidance, and trouble-shooting to colleagues—ensuring expertise scales across the organisation.
Governance & Compliance
- Manage Freedom of Information (FOI) and Environmental Information Regulations (EIR), including advice provision, compliance reviews, and stakeholder engagement.
- Drive data security and accuracy to align with Civil Service policy and legal framework, championing policies internally.
- Review and enhance existing processes, focusing on automation, efficiency, and future-readiness.

Stakeholder Collaboration
- Work closely with business and digital teams to resolve cross-functional issues at local, regional and national scale.
- Collaborate on projects to raise organisational maturity in information governance.
- Tailor communication to diverse stakeholders, including technical experts and non-specialists.
Requirements
Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven ability to design and improve information governance workflows in enterprise software (i.e., SharePoint, Teams).
- Documented record of developing processes/guidance/training for compliance-adoption in digital teams.
- Handling ambiguity and deadlines—balancing competing priorities while delivering realistic outcomes.
- Working effectively in a multi-disciplinary team (business users → IT → governance specialists).
- Standout communication skills—adapting between technical depth and stakeholder engagement.
Additional Considerations
- Frequency of remote work determined by business needs (hybrid policy applicable here).
- Salary: £37,579 per annum (HEO Band, Civil Service starting point).
- 6–12 weeks paid maternity/paternity/adoption/parental termination leave (prorated for part-time).
- 9-month reserve list may apply after shortlisting.
