Information Security Analyst (Stagecoach)
Location: Stagecoach Shared Service Centre One Exchange, 20 Railway Road Stockport SK1 3SW
About the Role
We’re looking for a talented and motivated Information Security Analyst to help protect Stagecoach’s network infrastructure, computer systems, and data from cyber threats like attacks, breaches, and security incidents. This role is critical in maintaining a fast-paced, secure cybersecurity environment, where your expertise will make a real difference.

What You’ll Be Doing
As an Information Security Analyst, your key responsibilities include:
- Monitoring for threats: Work alongside our Security Operations Centre (SOC) to analyse network traffic and security logs for suspicious activity.
- First response to breaches:
- Investigate security incidents
- Contain and mitigate threats
- Restore compromised systems efficiently
- Conducting cybersecurity assessments:
- Perform vulnerability scans and penetration tests (using tools like Tenable)
- Identify hardware and software weaknesses
- Securing data and systems:
- Install and maintain encryption programs
- Support security software implementation
- Compliance and governance:
- Ensure industry standards (GDPR, PCI-DSS, ISO 27001) are followed
- Prepare KPIs and reports for stakeholders
- Policy development: Assist in creating and updating information security policies, standards, and procedures
- Continuous learning: Stay ahead of emerging cybersecurity threats and advancing technologies

What We’re Looking For
Technical & Functional Knowledge
- Deep understanding of information security frameworks (e.g., ISO 27001, PCI-DSS, NIST)
- Proficiency in networking protocols, operating systems (Windows/Unix), and security software tools
- Hands-on experience with:
- Security applications (e.g., Tenable, SPLUNK, OKTA)
- Vulnerability scanning
- Penetration testing methodologies
Skills & Qualifications
- Analytical expertise:
- Interpret security alerts
- Analyse complex datasets
- Detect cyber threat patterns
- Problem-solving: Proactively resolve security issues and develop protective measures
- Communication:
- Explain complex threats to non-technical colleagues
- Deliver security awareness training
- Desirable:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related discipline
- Security certifications (e.g., CompTIA Security+, CISSP, Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH))
