Information Technology Project Manager

DSP Role Summary:

Reporting to the Head of Project Management, the IT Project Manager plays a central role in delivering customer projects successfully, on time, within scope and within budget. The role is responsible for managing projects across the full lifecycle, from initiation and requirements through to design, build, testing and go-live, while maintaining effective control of plans, risks, issues, actions and dependencies throughout.

The IT Project Manager will work closely with Sales, Consultants, Development teams and customers to coordinate delivery, align expectations and ensure projects achieve their intended outcomes.

The role also includes leading workshops and presentations where needed, maintaining strong communication with stakeholders, and providing clear, timely updates on project progress, risks and decisions.

Roles & Responsibilities:

The IT Project Manager is responsible for leading the smooth and successful delivery of key customer projects, ensuring customers realise maximum value from their investment. Core responsibilities include:

  • Coordinate internal teams, customers and third parties to deliver projects effectively and seamlessly.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope and within budget.
  • Define project scope, objectives and deliverables in collaboration with relevant stakeholders, ensuring technical and commercial feasibility.
  • Plan and manage resource allocation to support successful delivery.
  • Create and maintain detailed project plans to track progress and manage dependencies.
  • Manage changes to scope, schedule and cost using appropriate governance and control processes.
  • Monitor project performance using appropriate tools, systems and reporting methods.
  • Provide clear reporting to management and escalate risks or issues where required.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, stakeholders and delivery partners.
  • Identify, assess and manage project risks, issues and dependencies, with effective mitigation plans.
  • Maintain accurate, comprehensive project documentation throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Success Criteria:

  • Successfully manage multiple projects at the same time while maintaining quality and control.
  • Work proactively and independently, taking ownership of priorities and delivery outcomes.
  • Operate effectively both independently and as part of a wider team.
  • Manage time effectively, meet deadlines consistently and set clear expectations with stakeholders.
  • Maintain stringent control over project change, ensuring all changes are assessed, documented, approved and managed through the appropriate governance process.
  • Maintain relevant professional certifications aligned to the role and area of expertise.

Experience and Background:

  • Proven experience as an IT Project Manager, with at least six years in a comparable role.
  • Strong experience delivering Oracle technology projects, including greenfield implementations, migrations and upgrade programmes.

Additional experience in the following areas would be highly advantageous:

  • IT infrastructure projects, including implementation, migration and upgrade programmes leveraging Oracle Engineered Systems.
  • Oracle EBS deployment, although other ERP platforms will be considered.
  • Recent, in-depth experience of Oracle and Microsoft technologies, including cloud infrastructure.
  • A strong track record of coordinating cross-functional teams.
  • Experience working in a multi-customer environment.
  • Demonstrable success in delivering complex technology projects and environments.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to apply sound judgement and original thinking.
  • Able to take ownership of both in-flight and new projects quickly and effectively, whether operating at Project Manager, Senior Project Manager or Programme Manager level.

This role is best suited to candidates with established IT project delivery experience in customer-facing environments.

Skills:

  • Strong end-to-end IT project management capability.
  • Experience managing multiple concurrent project deliveries.
  • Relevant technical certifications across one or more platforms.
  • Working knowledge of ITIL, with certifications desirable.
  • PRINCE2 Practitioner or PMP certification.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Experience producing clear and effective project reporting.
  • The ability to identify and manage risks, issues and dependencies, and develop effective mitigation plans.

Location and Special Requirements:

While this role, and the wider organisation, operates primarily on a remote basis, we would particularly welcome applications from candidates based in the North of England. Our Project Management team is predominantly located in and around Leeds, and the team values the opportunity to meet in person on a regular basis to support collaboration, knowledge sharing, and team development. As such, candidates who can reasonably attend occasional face-to-face team meetings would be advantageous.

Flexibility for adhoc travel to client sites and DSP office's, as required.
