Information Technology Service Delivery Manager

Service Delivery Manager (Defence Team)

Location: Bristol based – predominantly on site with limited hybrid working

Travel Requirements: You will be required to travel between two close sites in North Bristol. Further travel may be needed on an ad-hoc basis with clients.

Salary: £54,102 to £67,056 per annum (salary experience dependent), plus 12.5% employer pension contribution and private medical insurance.

Security Clearance: A high level of government security clearance will be required upon joining. Support will be provided to achieve this.

Sitting within the IT Department, in partnership with the Secure Operations Department, you will:

  • Build, recruit, and subsequently lead and manage the Secure Operations IT Support Team.
  • Align IT services to meet the needs of the Secure Operations Team while mirroring existing General Operations services.
  • Collaborate closely with the IT Service Delivery Manager and IT Operations Manager outside the Secure Operations Team to ensure high standards are consistently maintained.

Responsibilities

  • Build, recruit, lead, and motivate the new **IT Secure Operations delivery team.
  • Design, implement, and continuously improve Secure Operations IT service support and delivery processes, ensuring alignment with ITIL best practices and existing IT Operations procedures.
  • Implement Problem Management through trend analysis and prevention.
  • Create detailed KPI reporting to support IT Service Level Team (SLT).
  • Manage the IT Secure Operations run budget.
  • Take Incident, Request, and Change management ownership within Secure Operations IT and act as a **"

  • Chair the Change Advisory Board when required.
  • Create standard operating procedures for key service delivery functions.
  • Support the technical development and delivery of internal secure working environments.
  • Oversee the service transition and onboarding of all new services within the Secure IT environment.
  • Maintain the required levels of Security Clearance as defined by the role scope.

Requirements & Selection Criteria

Prioritised candidates will have relevant experience in:

  • Defence, engineering, R&D, or manufacturing industries.
  • Proven experience as a Service Delivery Manager (or equivalent) with 3+ years’ experience.
  • Well-rounded IT knowledge with career progression up to Service Delivery Management.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder liaison skills—acting as a bridge between business, technical, and security stakeholders.
  • Proven track record in managing and building teams.

Technical & Specialised Knowledge:

  • ITIL v4/v5 foundation qualification.
  • Experience with Microsoft environments.
  • Awareness of regulatory and compliance frameworks (e.g., ISO 27001, Cyber Essentials Plus).
  • Experience in Security Controlled Environments.
  • Understanding of telephony systems and software licensing models.
  • Strong vendor management skills.

Security Clearance: Candidates must be:

  • Eligible and willing to undergo a high-level government security clearance (no existing clearance required).
