Role Description
The Information Technology Support Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based at Aston University’s campus in Birmingham. The role involves providing front-line technical support to staff and students, including diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and network issues. Daily tasks include:

- Responding to help desk tickets
- Managing user accounts and access rights
- Supporting classroom and office IT equipment
- Assisting with system updates and maintenance

The engineer will collaborate with other IT team members on system administration tasks, document solutions and procedures, and contribute to continuous improvement of IT services and user experience.
Qualifications
- Technical Support and Help Desk Support skills, including experience handling user queries and incident resolution.
- Information Technology and System Administration skills for managing user accounts, devices, and core IT services.
- Advanced Troubleshooting skills for diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and connectivity issues efficiently.
- Effective communication and customer service skills to support a diverse community of staff and students.
- Relevant experience in an IT support environment, ideally within education or large organizations, and familiarity with common operating systems and productivity tools.
- Relevant professional certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+, Microsoft, ITIL) or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to work on-site in Birmingham, manage priorities, follow documented procedures, and contribute to team-based projects.
