IT Support Technician

Durham | Up to £32,000 | Full Time | On Site

We're supporting a growing organisation in Durham as they look to strengthen their internal IT function with the appointment of an IT Support Technician.

This role would suit someone with experience in IT Support, Helpdesk, Service Desk or Desktop Support who enjoys working directly with end users, taking ownership of issues and being involved in a variety of day-to-day IT activities.

You'll play a key role in ensuring employees have the tools, systems and support they need to work effectively, while gaining exposure to a broad range of technologies and ongoing improvement projects.

The Role

  • Acting as a key point of contact for technical support across the business
  • Resolving hardware, software and user account issues in a timely manner
  • Setting up and issuing laptops, desktops and mobile devices for new starters
  • Managing user accounts, permissions and access requests
  • Investigating network, VPN, printer and connectivity-related issues
  • Supporting Microsoft 365 applications and Windows-based environments
  • Assisting with system maintenance, updates and security patching
  • Keeping asset registers and IT documentation up to date
  • Contributing to infrastructure upgrades and technology improvement initiatives
  • Working closely with colleagues to deliver a positive support experience

About You

  • Previous experience in an IT Support, Service Desk, Helpdesk or Desktop Support role
  • Comfortable supporting Windows 10/11 environments
  • Experience administering Microsoft 365 and Active Directory
  • Understanding of networking fundamentals and troubleshooting techniques
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Excellent communication skills and a customer-focused approach
  • Proactive mindset with a desire to learn and develop

Desirable Experience

  • Exposure to Microsoft Intune or Endpoint Management tools
  • CompTIA, Microsoft or other industry-recognised certifications
  • Experience with device provisioning, hardware rollouts or account administration
