Information Technology Support Technician
IT Support Technician – E-Commerce & Retail Role
Location: Salford (covering 2 sites in Salford & Trafford Park) Industry: Direct-to-Consumer E-Commerce
A dynamic, fast-growing e-commerce retail business—seeing explosive growth—is seeking an IT Support Technician with 2+ years of experience in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd-line IT support. About the Role
With an analytical mindset and a proactive, solution-focused attitude, you’ll serve as a key technical resource supporting business systems, users, and infrastructure. Key responsibilities include managing support queries, implementing system improvements, and liaising with external vendors.
This is an on-site role covering two key locations in Salford and Trafford Park.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Support & Troubleshooting
- Be the first point of contact for employees, resolving technical queries (1st-line).
- Escalate unresolved issues to 2nd and 3rd-line support when necessary.
- Provide hardware support (PCs, Macs, tablets, printers, networking equipment, etc.)—including triage, repairs, and configuration.
- Manage workstation setup and maintenance to ensure optimal performance.

System Administration & Maintenance
- Configure and troubleshoot business systems (Microsoft 365, Windows Server, Sage 200, Linnworks, Peoplevox etc.).
- Monitor system performance (via alerts/reports) and document issues & resolutions for future reference.
- Patch systems, undertake upgrades, and perform routine maintenance to minimize downtime.
- Liaise with external IT providers for specialized support.
Security & Compliance
- Uphold IT security best practices and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Advise on proactive security measures to protect company systems and data.
End-User Training & Education
- Train users (both in group sessions and one-on-one consultations) on new systems and processes.
Requirements & Ideal Skills
- At least 2 years of experience in 1st, 2nd-line IT support (or similar).
- Familiarity with retail/e-commerce systems is hugely beneficial, but transferable skills in Sage 200, Linnworks, Peoplevox, Microsoft 365, and Windows Server will be valued.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to troubleshoot efficiently under pressure.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proactive, detail-oriented approach to resolving and documenting issues.
- Experience in training end-users in any capacity is a plus.
- Hands-on technical ability: comfortable working with PCs, Macs, servers, networking, and handheld devices.
