Job Title: Infrastructure and Project Engineer

Location: All Campuses: Highbury, North Harbour, Sixth Form and Arundel

Salary: £33,980.34 - £36,035.26 Full Time Equivalent per annum

Hours of work: 37 Hours per week, 52 Weeks per year, Full-Time, Permanent

About The Role

The Infrastructure and Project Engineer will work as part of the Project Team to deliver high quality project implementation and delivery. The Engineer will be expected to provide expertise to support and develop the systems and infrastructure within the college. The engineer will act both as an expert during implementation but also be taking a lead role in IT projects and changes. The engineer will be expected to be championing new technologies that can bring a competitive advantage to the college and drive efficiencies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high quality customer support in the troubleshooting and resolution of technical support issues.
  • Assist and lead with projects assigned to the team.
  • Provide subject matter expertise in the development of systems within the College.
  • Where required, represent the college and or IT Team in meetings / presentations / Conferences.
  • To provide guidance and support for the IT Support Team
  • Update the ticketing system, ensuring the call has been logged and all notes, progress and required actions have been input promptly and accurately.
  • Escalating and managing issues with 3rd parties.
  • Expected to be involved in or sometimes leading projects and providing expertise to help determine the best outcomes for the college.
  • Ensure that skills and knowledge are maintained and take responsibility for training others.
  • Continuously improve knowledge and understanding across the various software and hardware technologies supported by the team.
  • Maintain a strong customer focus at all times.

Specialist Duties

  • Implement and support Virtual Infrastructure, Server Patch Management, Active Directory, Exams Management (Virtualise where possible)
  • Develop Automation across college where appropriate.
  • Assisting with managing the college network infrastructure.
  • Take a lead role in the development and integration of systems to deliver efficiencies and improvements.
  • Work with various departments to develop the College systems.
  • Support specialist requirements and design processes to ensure that any requirement is managed and controlled.
  • Ensure that your knowledge is kept up to date and that the college is adopting good quality systems that are well implemented and maintained.
  • Seek out new technologies and integrations that can deliver efficiencies for staff and students.
  • Look to streamline and improve existing processes using SharePoint / Azure AD and other integrations, both within the IT Team and the wider college.
  • Ensure that documentation is managed and kept up to date for internal and auditing purposes.
  • Be familiar with Cyber Essentials and GDPR criteria and ensure that all systems are developed and maintained to meet the criteria.

To be successful in this role, below is what we would need from you:

  • Ability to work with staff at all levels
  • Contributing, implementing and leading IT technical Projects and business changes
  • Excellent attention to detail in planning, implementing and documenting of IT Projects
  • Extensive experience of supporting systems and services at 3rd line or Project engineer role
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and the ability to diagnose and resolve technical problems efficiently and effectively under pressure
