Investment Associate – Infrastructure

The Opportunity
A leading European private markets investment firm is looking to appoint an Investment Associate to its growing Infrastructure team in London.
The team invests across Europe in businesses and assets supporting the transition towards a more sustainable and digital economy. Its investment strategy focuses on renewable energy, energy-transition infrastructure and digital infrastructure, targeting opportunities that combine attractive long-term returns with resilient and predictable cash flows.
The successful candidate will join a highly experienced investment team and gain significant exposure across the full investment lifecycle, including origination, transaction execution, portfolio management and eventual exit.
Key Responsibilities
- Evaluate new investment opportunities across the European infrastructure market.
- Build and review detailed financial models, including valuation, financing, operational and returns analysis.
- Conduct commercial, financial, operational and ESG analysis of prospective investments.
- Support the preparation of investment committee papers, presentations and transaction documentation.
- Coordinate financial, commercial, legal, technical, tax and ESG due diligence processes.
- Work closely with external advisers, including investment banks, consultants, lawyers, lenders and technical specialists.
- Assist with transaction structuring, financing negotiations and the review of legal documentation.
- Conduct market, sector and company research to identify investment themes and potential opportunities.
- Support the monitoring and strategic development of portfolio companies, including budgeting, performance analysis and value-creation initiatives.
- Develop relationships with management teams, industry participants, advisers and other stakeholders.
- Support junior members of the team and contribute to the continued development of internal processes and investment materials.

Candidate Profile
- Approximately three to five years of relevant professional experience within infrastructure private equity, investment banking, project finance, corporate finance or a related investment environment.
- Strong transaction experience, ideally involving infrastructure, energy, utilities, transport, telecommunications or other real assets.
- Advanced financial modelling, valuation and analytical capabilities.
- Experience managing or supporting complex due diligence and transaction processes.
- Strong commercial judgement and the ability to assess both investment risks and value-creation opportunities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience preparing high-quality investment materials.
- Strong academic background from a leading university.
- Highly organised, intellectually curious and comfortable taking responsibility within a fast-paced environment.
- Collaborative working style and the ability to engage effectively with senior colleagues, advisers and management teams.
- Fluency in English is required; additional European language capabilities would be advantageous.

Relevant Sector Experience
Exposure to one or more of the following areas would be beneficial:
- Renewable energy, including solar, wind, hydro, biogas and other sustainable generation technologies.
- Energy storage, smart grids, metering and distributed energy infrastructure.
- Electric mobility and clean transportation infrastructure.
- Digital infrastructure, including fibre networks, data centres, telecom towers, subsea cables and connected infrastructure.
- Water, waste management and circular-economy infrastructure.
- Infrastructure-related services and asset-backed business models.
