Location: Swansea; 60% on-site presence required Working Pattern: Full-time, 3 days per week Benefits:
- Visa sponsorship available for eligible candidates
- Strong focus on work-life balance with a flexible hybrid model (3 days onsite)
- Collaborative, multidisciplinary agile environment alongside civil servants and industry experts
About the Role
As an Infrastructure Engineer, you will design, build, manage, and support the critical infrastructure services that underpin internal operations and high-volume, public-facing digital services. Operating as a core member of a blended agile squad, you will play a pivotal role in enabling agile delivery teams through secure-by-design principles, modernising legacy estates, and supporting cloud adoption on AWS.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate secure-by-design cloud and platform services on AWS, supporting microservices and serverless workloads for high-volume digital services.
- Enable delivery teams to build and run Java Spring Boot back-end services and serverless applications, integrated with Ruby on Rails and React front-ends.
- Support migration from legacy technologies (AIX, Oracle, Natural/Adabas) to strategic, API-led architectures, ensuring continuity of service while improving resilience and performance.
- Establish and maintain CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, release orchestration, and automated testing to accelerate delivery while maintaining governance.
- Implement engineering guardrails, least-privilege identity and access management (IAM), tagging strategies, and observability frameworks to monitor and reduce mean time to detect and resolve issues.
- Collaborate with technical architects to translate architectural designs into operational execution, ensuring seamless integration and delivery of systems.
- Troubleshoot and break down technical issues to identify root causes across different technology capabilities.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
