About The Role
As an Infrastructure Engineer, you will design, build, manage, and support the critical infrastructure services that underpin internal operations and high-volume, public-facing digital services. Operating as a core member of a blended agile squad, you will play a pivotal role in enabling agile delivery teams through secure-by-design principles, modernising legacy estates, and supporting cloud adoption on AWS.
Key Responsibilities

Enable delivery teams to build and run Java Spring Boot back-end services and serverless applications, integrated with Ruby on Rails and React front-ends. Support the migration from legacy technologies (including AIX, Oracle, and Natural/Adabas) to strategic, API-led architectures, ensuring continuity of service while improving resilience and performance. Establish and maintain continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines, infrastructure as code, release orchestration, and automated testing to accelerate delivery while maintaining governance. Implement engineering guardrails, least-privilege identity and access management (IAM), tagging strategies, and observability frameworks to proactively monitor and reduce the mean time to detect and resolve issues. Work collaboratively with technical architects to translate architectural designs into operations, ensuring systems are integrated, delivered, and operated as required Troubleshoot and identify problems across different technology capabilities, breaking problems down into component parts to diagnose root causes.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
