Banking Infrastructure & Platform Engineer

London
Full-Time

We are looking for a hands-on Banking Infrastructure & Platform Engineer to support business-critical banking applications and associated infrastructure.

The role will focus on the operational support, administration and technical management of core banking platforms, ensuring system availability, stability, performance and successful daily processing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day operational support for core banking platforms and business-critical applications
  • Monitor platform availability, application health, transaction processing and system performance
  • Support intraday and end-of-day (EOD) banking processes
  • Investigate and resolve batch failures, processing delays and performance issues
  • Troubleshoot application, middleware, database and infrastructure incidents
  • Administer Linux (RHEL), Oracle Linux and/or IBM AIX environments
  • Manage operating system accounts, permissions, service accounts and scheduled jobs
  • Support system patching, upgrades, maintenance and housekeeping activities
  • Develop and maintain shell scripts to automate operational and batch processing tasks
  • Provide first and second-line support for Oracle and SQL Server databases
  • Monitor database performance, storage utilisation, backups and operational health
  • Support backup, recovery, replication and disaster recovery activities
  • Administer and support Oracle WebLogic environments
  • Support application deployments, platform upgrades and environment maintenance
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement permanent fixes for recurring issues
  • Execute approved infrastructure, application, database and middleware changes
  • Maintain technical documentation, runbooks and standard operating procedures
  • Work with technology vendors and third-party partners to resolve technical issues
  • Participate in disaster recovery exercises and resilience testing

Experience Required

  • 3+ years' experience supporting Oracle Flexcube, Oracle ERP or similar enterprise banking platforms
  • Experience working within banking or financial services
  • Hands-on Linux (RHEL) and/or IBM AIX administration experience
  • Experience supporting Oracle databases and SQL Server
  • Experience with database monitoring, backups, performance analysis and troubleshooting
  • Experience supporting Oracle WebLogic middleware environments
  • Experience monitoring overnight batch processing and end-of-day banking operations
  • Strong understanding of production support and IT operational processes
