Infrastructure Engineer
Windows server, Active Directory, Group Policy – Commodities and Energy Trading Location: Hybrid, London (near Tower Bridge station) Salary: Up to £85,000 + bonus (up to 75% of annual base) Work Pattern: Three days a week on-site
About the Role
A leading global asset management firm, responsible for managing assets across energy, precious metals, agriculture, FX, absolute return, multi-asset, and specialist investment strategies, is seeking an Infrastructure Engineer to join their desk support team.
This role involves maintaining and evolving a large-scale enterprise infrastructure environment, including:
- Hybrid infrastructure estate (Azure cloud services, Microsoft enterprise platforms, and on-premise VMware environments).
- Support for multiple front-office teams, ensuring stability, performance, scalability, and alignment with business requirements.
The Infrastructure Engineer will contribute to long-term infrastructure initiatives, such as:
- Data centre migration to an externally managed environment.
- Modernisation projects, reducing operational overhead.
Key responsibilities include:
- Provisioning and managing infrastructure for front-office teams, ensuring scalability, security, and reliability.
- Maintaining and supporting a large Azure environment, including:
- Identity management (e.g., Azure Active Directory).
- Authentication services and enterprise applications.
- Extensive work across the Microsoft stack, including Microsoft 365, Exchange, and Entra ID.
- Monitoring system performance (CPU utilisation, disk capacity, infrastructure health) to ensure optimal uptime, stability, and efficiency.
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives, working closely with internal tech and networking teams.

Key Responsibilities
- Day-to-day support for a large Azure cloud and on-premise hybrid environment.
- Provisioning infrastructure aligned with business requirements, ensuring scalability and security.
- Supporting Microsoft enterprise platforms, including:
- Entra ID (Azure Active Directory)
- Microsoft 365 / Exchange / Group Policy
- Windows server administration.
- Performance monitoring and capacity management for critical applications.
- Contributing to cloud and on-premise infrastructure modernisation, including:
- Migration projects
- Automation scripts (PowerShell/Python).
- Supporting oders operational tasks and improvement projects in collaboration with stakeholders.
Requirements
- Three to five years of hands-on experience in enterprise infrastructure, including:
- Azure cloud environments (IaaS, PaaS, identity management)
- On-premise virtualisation (especially VMware)
- Microsoft stack (Exchange, Entra ID, Group Policy, Windows Server)
- Strong automation and scripting skills:
- PowerShell and/or Python for scripting and system management.
- Experience with infrastructure monitoring (CPU, disk, uptime optimisation) using industry tools.
- Knowledge of infrastructure provisioning, capacity planning, and compliance.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with tech, network, and business teams.
