Cloud Infrastructure Technician (Support & L1 IT Support) – Full-Time (Permanent)
Location: Uxbridge (contractual base: Yeading, with temporary relocation in 2028) London Weighting Allowance: £4,000 (paid when based in Uxbridge and Yeading) Salary: £35,663 per annum Vacancy Type: Permanent
About the Role
The Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) plays a vital role in ensuring safety on UK roads through standards testing, vehicle inspections, and enforcement. Our Cloud Infrastructure Team provides core technical services—powered by IaaS, Microsoft 365, Azure, Meraki, Dynamics, Intune, Apple Automated Device Enrolment, and other modern tools—to offer secure, efficient, and sustainable solutions for colleagues nationwide.
This pivotal team delivers second-line and third-line IT support, bridging the Service Desk and specialised subject-matter expertise (SMEs). You’ll be responsible for maintaining and evolving our cloud-hosted infrastructure, driving automation, enhancing reliability, and ensuring alignment with user needs and business priorities.

Responsibilities
You’ll be responsible for aspects of the following (until a future career path aligns with specialisation):

Core Infrastructure & Support:
- Manage incident and problem resolution (L1/Soc2 support)
- Drive enhancements and updates to infrastructure services to maximise business value
- Oversee automation of routine tasks across our systems
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and maintain servers, networks, backups, desktops, and endpoints for optimal performance
- Deploy and configure servers, desktop software, network equipment, and enterprise applications according to DVSA standards
- Enforce and maintain security controls, monitor threats, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements

Security & Documentation:
- Document infrastructure configurations, processes, and troubleshooting guides for team access
- Contribute to efficiency reviews and improvement initiatives

- Team Guidance:
- Line Management (Informal PE): Mentor and support new Junior Infrastructure Engineers (until succession planning is live)
- Foster a culture of development, healthy collaboration, and outstanding support for DVSA teams
