Infrastructure Engineer
Cloud Infrastructure Engineer
Location: Uxbridge (temporarily), moving to Yeading in 2028
- Initial relocation: Uxbridge (with London Weighting allowance of £4,000 while based here).
- Permanent base: Yeading from 2028 onwards.
- Original locations: Bristol, Swansea, Leeds, Nottingham, Newcastle, Oldham (Chadderton), Coventry, Birmingham (Garretts Green) or Uxbridge.
Salary: £35,663 per annum Type: Permanent full-time position
About the Role
The Cloud Infrastructure Team provides critical second/third-line IT support for the DVSA’s core infrastructure services—a sentinel for safety standards on UK roads, conducting tests and managing vehicle/related digital systems.
The team specialises in modern, cloud-hosted IaaS solutions, leveraging technologies such as:
- Microsoft M365
- Azure
- Meraki
- Dynamics 365
- Intune
- Apple Automated Device Enrolment

Key Responsibilities
- Incident & Problem Management: Maintain core infrastructure services, resolving operations disruptions.
- Service Development: Drive improvements to align with business & user needs, maximising value.
- Automation Implementation: Streamline processes across the entire infrastructure estate.
- Monitoring & Troubleshooting: Ensure optimal performance for: ✓ Servers ✓ Networks ✓ Backups ✓ End-user devices
- Deployment & Configuration: Install and configure: ✓ Servers ✓ End-user software ✓ Networking equipment ✓ Enterprise software (adhering to organisational standards)
- Security & Compliance: Implement and maintain controls; monitor threats; ensure regulatory adherence.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of configurations, processes, and troubleshooting guides.
- Team Leadership: Mentor Junior Infrastructure Engineers while fostering a healthy, forward-thinking culture.
