Forward Deployed Infrastructure Engineer
London, UK (Hybrid)
£90,000 - £105,000 + Equity + Benefits
We're working with an innovative technology company delivering mission-critical software and infrastructure solutions to UK Government organisations. They are looking for a talented Forward Deployed Infrastructure Engineer to join their growing team, helping design, deploy and support highly scalable production platforms in secure environments.
This is an excellent opportunity for an Infrastructure, Platform, or Site Reliability Engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges and working with modern cloud technologies in a fast-paced engineering environment.
What You'll Be Doing
- Deploy, operate and maintain large-scale production infrastructure.
- Improve platform reliability, scalability, and performance.
- Automate operational processes and reduce manual intervention.
- Build and enhance monitoring, alerting, and observability solutions.
- Troubleshoot production issues and drive long-term improvements.
- Work closely with software engineers and customer-facing technical teams to deliver secure, resilient infrastructure.
- Participate in an on-call rota supporting production environments.

What We're Looking For
- 1-5 years' experience in Infrastructure Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), Platform Engineering, or DevOps.
- Strong Linux administration skills.
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and containerised environments.
- Experience with AWS, GCP, or Azure cloud platforms.
- Scripting or programming experience using Python, Go, Bash, or similar.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and infrastructure automation.
- Experience supporting large-scale production systems.

Nice To Have
- Experience working within Defence, National Security, or UK Government environments.
- Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible, or similar).
- Experience with distributed systems and cloud-native architectures.
- Exposure to AI, machine learning infrastructure, or modern data platforms.
Security Clearance
Due to the nature of the work, candidates must hold active UK Security Clearance (SC) or Developed Vetting (DV), or be eligible to obtain clearance.
