Role – Infrastructure Engineer

Location – Hybrid, one day a week onsite in Corsham

Contract – Initial 7 month contract

Rate - £400 to £435 per day

Start – ASAP

You must hold Active SC Clearance to be eligible for this role.

This role has been deemed Outside IR35.

A leading technology consultancy supporting highly secure UK government environments is looking for an SC Cleared Infrastructure Engineer with strong service monitoring and observability experience to join their growing infrastructure team.

This role focuses on enhancing monitoring capabilities across complex private cloud, multi-tenant hosting environments, improving operational visibility, service reliability and alerting across infrastructure and applications.

This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with strong VMware, Splunk and infrastructure monitoring experience to work within mission-critical, high-security environments.

The Role

As an Infrastructure Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing and improving monitoring and operational tooling used across secure infrastructure platforms.

You will help ensure services remain resilient, observable and performant by building effective monitoring, alerting and log analysis solutions used by infrastructure teams, service providers and tenants.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Enhancing and delivering monitoring services across private cloud multi-tenant hosting platforms
  • Developing operational tooling and monitoring capabilities to improve service performance, reliability and visibility
  • Designing and managing system and network log collection, analysis and monitoring platforms
  • Deploying and supporting Splunk-based monitoring, alerting and analytics solutions
  • Implementing application and infrastructure monitoring use cases
  • Providing 3rd line support and troubleshooting for monitoring platforms
  • Reviewing existing monitoring services and recommending improvements and enhancements
  • Producing technical documentation and operational guidance
  • Collaborating with infrastructure, security and platform teams to improve operational insight

Required Skills & Experience

  • Active SC Clearance (or eligibility to obtain)
  • Strong experience working in secure or mission-critical environments
  • Hands-on experience supporting VMware Cloud Foundation environments
  • Experience with VMware Aria Operations and VMware Aria Operations for Logs
  • Strong Splunk administration and monitoring experience
  • Experience working with Splunk Query Language (SPL)
  • Log parsing using Regular Expressions (Regex)
  • Scripting experience in Python, PowerShell or Bash
  • Experience integrating with APIs
  • Experience working with Windows Server and Linux environments
  • Experience with security tooling such as Nessus or Tenable Security Centre
