Infrastructure Engineer (ZTNA)
Salary: £48,987 – £55,000 Location: Edinburgh, Leeds, Manchester Working Pattern: Hybrid (minimum 2 days on-site or 40% office time)

About the Role
You’ll be a key engineer responsible for designing, evolving, and operating our Zero Trust Network Access (ZTNA) platforms. Your work will focus on protecting access to critical applications and services via modern identity-aware and context-driven security controls.
This role combines cutting-edge engineering practices, including automation and secure-by-default design principles, to improve resilience, performance, and security. You’ll have meaningful impact, shaping our technical direction, raising engineering standards, and expanding our ZTNA and Zero Trust capabilities.
Day-to-day, you’ll operate with high autonomy and technical influence, covering:
- Engineering new capabilities using Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), CI/CD pipelines, and policy-as-code.
- Driving platform modernisation, enhancing observability and telemetry.
- Supporting major incident diagnostics and real-time troubleshooting.
- Embedding Zero Trust principles across the stack.
- Producing high-quality engineering documentation.
- Participating in our on-call rota to ensure operational resilience of critical systems.

Requirements
You must demonstrate a proven engineering mindset with hands-on experience in:
- ZTNA, remote access, or identity-aware access technologies (on-premises and cloud).
- Cloud network security, with preference for Azure and GCP.
- Automation and scripting (Python is preferred).
- Infrastructure-as-Code tools (Terraform is preferred).
- Modern CI/CD pipelines.
- Networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, TLS).
- Identity protocols (SAML, OIDC).
- Zero Trust architecture principles.
plus:
- The ability to lead complex technical investigations and diagnose issues under pressure.
- Confidence to influence engineering decisions and contribute to technical direction.
Bonus points if you have experience or knowledge in:
- Identity & Access Management (IAM).
- Device posture and endpoint security.
- Secure application access patterns.
- Zero Trust architectures.
- Federation and user-to-application segmentation.
- Cloud/security/identity certifications.
- Relevant engineering accreditations.
