Key Responsibilities
- Manage the delivery of high-level designs for stable, business-aligned network infrastructure that meets BT’s requirements for security, privacy, and audit compliance.
- Lead maintenance and upgrades of key IT Infrastructure elements, including networking, storage, compute, and security services, per design standards.
- Provide technical expertise and problem-solving to senior managers for complex infrastructure issues.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across application development, enterprise architecture, infrastructure, and cyber security teams to implement technical roadmaps effectively.
- Oversee day-to-day system health, tool maintenance, and support for internal processes and projects, while managing customer contract SLAs.
Essential Requirements
Technical Expertise
Experience with:
- ✔ VMWare / Virtualisation (ESXi, vCenter, vSphere Cloud Foundation)
- ✔ Server administration (Windows, Linux, Mac)
- ✔ Containers & orchestration (Kubernetes, VKS Forecast)
- ✔ Network micro-segmentation (VMware’s NSX v/T)
- ✔ Storage management systems
- ✔ Scripting languages (Python, Bash, Java, PowerShell)
- ✔ Infrastructure automation using IaC tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Terraform, Foreman (Kickstart/PXE)/MDT) for system builds and orchestration
Desirable Business & Strategic Skills
- Supporting and influencing the formulation of BT’s engineering strategy and technical policies.
- Demonstrating financial acumen and managing projects with attention to quality, cost, and technical feasibility.
