About the Role
CGI’s Space, Defence and Intelligence business unit delivers contemporary, innovative technical solutions for government agencies facing complex challenges. We design, build, and operate bespoke, technically advanced, mission-critical systems that help our clients safeguard the UK’s security.
We are seeking an experienced Infrastructure Engineer to join our cross-functional team. In collaboration with our clients, you’ll define, guide, and ensure the delivery of integrated technical solutions.

Security Clearance Requirement
Due to the project's secure nature, candidates must either:
- Already hold, or be eligible for, a high-level UK Security Clearance.
- Meet criteria for eligibility (sole British nationality, 10+ years UK residency, <28 consecutive days abroad in the last 5 years).
Applicants without current clearance are encouraged to apply—they will be considered for other suitable CGI roles.
Location & Work Arrangement
- On-site role (5 days/week) due to the sensitive nature of the work.
- Minimal flexibility for hybrid/remote arrangements, reserved for explicit business/clearance approval.
- Any site-based arrangements must align with the project team.
Key Responsibilities

Network Architecture & Security
- Design, implement, and manage complex network architectures (LAN, WAN, cloud-based systems).
- Monitor performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimise resources for high availability and security.
- Configure and maintain firewalls, routers, switches, and VPNs per security policies.

Storage & Backup Solutions
- Oversee installation, configuration, and maintenance of storage systems (SAN, NAS, backups, DR planning).
- Ensure data integrity, availability, and security through backups, replication, and optimisation.

Windows Server & AD Management
- Manage Windows Server environments (Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and related services).
- Perform regular patch management, software updates, and system upgrades to maintain security and performance.

Access Control & Compliance
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and access controls following strict security policies.
Required Qualifications & Attributes
- Proven experience in:
- Infrastructure management (network, storage, Windows Server).
- Resolving complex technical challenges.
- Problem-solving mindset—ability to think outside the box in high-stakes technical environments.
