Overview
We're seeking an experienced Infrastructure Manager to oversee day-to-day infrastructure operations and act as the senior technical escalation point, helping maintain secure, resilient and reliable services across a Microsoft cloud and on-premise estate. This is a hands-on operational role with responsibility for coordinating engineers, suppliers and incidents while supporting the Head of Operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage a team of four Technical Engineers.
- Own day-to-day infrastructure operations and service availability.
- Act as the senior technical escalation point for complex issues.
- Coordinate major incidents and problem management.
- Oversee operational change, patching and vulnerability remediation.
- Manage backup, recovery and service continuity activities.
- Coordinate third-party suppliers including managed services and SOC providers.
- Support the transition of new services into live operation.
- Provide clear operational updates and risk advice to senior management.

Technical Environment:
Experience with most of the following is expected:
- Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, Microsoft Entra ID
- Windows Server, Hyper-V
- Cisco networking, Palo Alto firewalls
- Veeam / Rubrik, enterprise storage
- End-user computing
- Microsoft Teams telephony
Essential Experience:
- Several years leading infrastructure or IT operations teams.
- Strong hands-on Microsoft infrastructure experience across cloud and on-premise environments.
- Experience managing major incidents and technical escalations.
- Good understanding of ITIL service management.
- Experience managing suppliers and outsourced support partners.
- Strong troubleshooting and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Desirable:
- Microsoft certifications.
- Experience within local government or the public sector.
- Experience with Cyber Essentials or ISO 27001.
- PowerShell or scripting knowledge.
