About the FCA and team

Enforcement & Market Oversight (EMO) is responsible for the FCA’s responsibilities for market monitoring, delivery of the functions of the UK Listing Authority (UKLA) and the investigation and prosecution of misconduct using the whole spectrum of criminal, civil and administrative sanctions and remedies against firms and individuals.

Enforcement Intelligence and Specialist Services (EISS) Directorate provides strategic expertise, intelligence capabilities and operational support across enforcement functions, strengthening the FCA’s ability to detect harm, deliver effective investigations and uphold market integrity.

The Digital Forensic Unit within EISS is working towards ISO 17025 and the Forensic Science Regulator Code of Practice, which is part of a wider transformation programme, which is in line with the FCA Strategy.

Role responsibilities

  • Support the Lead Associate and senior leadership in delivering technology solutions aligned with the Digital Forensic Unit’s strategic goals, regulatory compliance and future accreditation
  • Implement hardware, software and infrastructure architecture aligned with business, application and data domains, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders
  • Lead small projects, provide guidance on complex technical issues and act as an escalation point for day-to-day technical challenges
  • Adhere to and implement infrastructure strategies and roadmaps, ensuring security best practices across cloud and network layers while engaging with wider FCA stakeholders
  • Mentor and manage junior engineers, supporting their development and skill enhancement, while researching external trends to identify innovation opportunities
  • Support compliance with ISO 17025, the Forensic Science Code of Practice and FCA policies aligned with NIST standards and assist in deploying and maintaining forensic tools for criminal and regulatory investigations

Skills required

Minimum:

  • Prior experience as System Administrator in on-prem Windows Server 2022/2025 environments (Active Directory, CA, DHCP, DNS, KMS), Hyper-V, and storage (SMB, FS, DFS, RAID)
  • Secure background in Palo Alto Firewalls, Switches (VPN, VLAN, Load Balancing), and Scripting (PowerShell, Python, Bash)
  • Practical experience with ITSM tools such as ServiceNow and Jira
  • Demonstrated experience in structural remediation, problem trend analysis, and service performance improvement
  • CompTIA Network + certification and/or CCNA/CCNP and Splunk Certification.

Essential:

  • Effective stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical issues to non-technical audiences
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines and effectively prioritise workload
  • Broad knowledge of technology trends and enterprise-wide architecture
  • Innovative thinker with pragmatic problem-solving skills that positively impact service delivery
  • Experienced in applying architectural principles to business solutions and working with hybrid IT, AI driven ITSM solutions, automation, digitisation initiatives and multi-sourced environments
