Infrastructure & Security Engineer
Are you looking for a new challenge in an IT role? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our DevOps and Infrastructure team as an Infrastructure & Security Engineer!
We offer hybrid working between your home and our offices located within our flagship store in Newcastle.

About the role
The Infrastructure & Security Engineer plays a key role in supporting the stability, performance and security of Fenwick’s core technology platforms. Working across Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365 and hybrid infrastructure environments, the role focuses on maintaining reliable services through proactive monitoring, system maintenance, patching and incident resolution, ensuring platforms remain secure, available and performant for the wider business.
Working closely with the Systems Administrator, Cyber Security Officer and wider technology teams, the role also contributes to strengthening Fenwick’s cyber security posture. This includes supporting endpoint security through Microsoft Intune and Defender, assisting with vulnerability remediation, investigating infrastructure and security alerts, and contributing to security hardening and governance across the platform.

Alongside day-to-day operational support, the role supports ongoing infrastructure improvements and modernisation initiatives. This provides the opportunity to gain hands-on experience across cloud infrastructure, security tooling and emerging technologies, while collaborating with internal teams and third-party partners to continuously improve the organisation’s infrastructure and security capabilities.
What we are looking for in a candidate...
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft cloud technologies including Azure, Microsoft 365 and Entra ID.
- Experience supporting Microsoft Intune (MDM/MAM) device management platforms.
- Understanding of networking fundamentals and enterprise network environments including Meraki-based LAN and WiFi platforms.
- Experience supporting hybrid infrastructure environments combining Azure cloud services with on-premise systems.
- Familiarity with Microsoft security tooling including Microsoft Defender and security monitoring platforms.
- Understanding of security principles including vulnerability management, system hardening and access control.
- Experience working within structured incident and change management processes.
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively across technical and operational teams.
