The Role
Our new Ingredients Buyer will play a key role in supporting procurement activity across a broad range of ingredient categories within a multi-site manufacturing operation. Working closely with suppliers and internal stakeholders, you’ll help ensure consistent supply, strong commercial performance, and compliance across all purchasing activity.
This role is ideal for someone with purchasing or procurement experience within FMCG or food manufacturing who enjoys balancing supplier relationships, cost management, data analysis, and operational support in a fast-moving environment.
This role can be based in either our Malton or Grimsby offices.
Your Key Responsibilities
The Ingredients Buyer will be responsible for supporting procurement activity across multiple ingredient categories, ensuring supply continuity, cost control, and strong supplier performance.
Key Responsibilities Will Include
- Managing purchasing activity across a diverse ingredient portfolio
- Supporting sourcing projects, RFQs, supplier benchmarking, and cost-saving initiatives
- Building strong day-to-day relationships with suppliers across multiple categories
- Monitoring supplier performance against cost, quality, service, and compliance measures
- Supporting supplier onboarding and resolving supplier performance issues where required
- Working cross-functionally with sites to align specifications, pricing, and supplier usage
- Maintaining accurate procurement, pricing, and supplier data within ERP systems
- Supporting spend analysis, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Ensuring ingredients meet required specifications, certifications, and legal standards
- Collaborating with Quality and Technical teams to support compliance and audit readiness

The Ideal Candidate
You will be an organised and commercially aware procurement professional who can manage multiple priorities within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
You Will Ideally Have
- Experience within a procurement or purchasing role, ideally within FMCG, food manufacturing, or a regulated environment
- Previous experience purchasing ingredients, raw materials, or related categories
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple suppliers and priorities simultaneously
- Good analytical and numerical capability with strong attention to detail
- Confident communication and relationship-building skills
- Experience using Excel and ERP or procurement systems
- An understanding of supplier management and procurement processes
- A proactive approach with a continuous improvement mindset
