About Aston Martin

For over 110 years, Aston Martin has created some of the world’s most iconic ultra-luxury performance vehicles. Blending cutting-edge engineering, timeless design and exceptional craftsmanship, we continue to redefine what is possible in automotive innovation. As we shape the future of high-performance propulsion technologies, we are seeking an Innovation & Advanced Technology Lead – Propulsion Systems to play a pivotal role in defining the next generation of Aston Martin vehicles.

About the Role

This is a unique opportunity to influence future product strategy and vehicle architecture at the earliest stages of development. Working within Advanced Systems Engineering, you will lead the execution of the Propulsion Systems technology roadmap, identifying emerging technologies and translating innovation into practical engineering solutions that support Aston Martin’s long-term vision.

As the Innovation & Advanced Technology Lead, you will be responsible for evaluating future propulsion technologies, industry trends and technical opportunities that have the potential to enhance vehicle performance, efficiency and customer experience. You will work across a broad range of concept activities, ensuring new technologies are assessed, understood and developed into viable solutions that align with our brand, business objectives and future product plans.

A key focus of the role will be leading early-phase concept feasibility studies across propulsion systems. You will evaluate technology compatibility, integration readiness and system interactions at a vehicle level, ensuring innovative concepts can be successfully incorporated into future architectures. Through robust engineering analysis, trade-off studies and technical assessments, you will provide recommendations that support strategic decision-making and inform programme planning before concepts transition into delivery.

Working closely with engineering, procurement, suppliers and programme teams, you will ensure commodity strategies are effectively integrated into early feasibility activities. You will balance technical innovation with practical considerations such as supplier capability, sourcing strategy, cost targets and manufacturing readiness, helping to ensure future propulsion solutions are both technically achievable and commercially viable.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will hold a degree in Mechanical, Automotive, Electrical/Electronic or Systems Engineering, with a Master's degree being advantageous. You will bring proven experience delivering technology roadmaps, concept feasibility studies or early-stage systems integration activities, combined with a strong background in propulsion systems strategy and development within a high-performance automotive environment.
