Innovation Manager

I’m helping Freedman International find a top candidate to join their team full-time for the role of Innovation Manager.

You'll drive innovation, embedding cutting-edge tools to deliver measurable efficiency and global impact.

Responsibilities and more

Delivering the Innovation Pipeline

  • Manage the day-to-day innovation pipeline, keeping initiatives on track from idea through to adoption.
  • Contribute to the innovation roadmap, feeding in pain points and opportunities gathered from teams.
  • Make sure each initiative has clear owners, timelines, and success criteria.

Running Trials and Proof-of-Concepts

  • Set up and run Proof-of-Concept trials with defined success measures, then report honestly on what worked and what did not.
  • Support the Tech Radar by researching and testing emerging tools across AI, automation, and workflow optimisation.
  • Coordinate vendor trials and early-access programmes, managing the practical side of evaluations.

Embedding Tools into Operations

  • Roll out successful tools into business-as-usual operations, including training, documentation, and support.
  • Work with Operations, PM, CAT, and CM teams to map processes and automate repetitive tasks.
  • Track usage and adoption after launch, stepping in where take-up is slow.

Collaboration and Enablement

  • Run and facilitate cross-team workshops such as "Ideas Harvest" sessions to surface opportunities.
  • Act as a go-to point of contact for teams wanting to test or adopt new ways of working.
  • Help build a culture of experimentation by sharing learnings openly, including from trials that fail.

Supporting Client-Facing Innovation

  • Support Client Services on pilots, innovation showcases, and trend reports.
  • Help prepare practical demonstrations and case studies that show real operational impact.
  • Provide research and stimulus for marketing-led reports and thought leadership.

Measurement and Reporting

  • Track success metrics including efficiency gains, adoption rates, and time saved.
  • Produce regular progress updates for the Director and wider business.
  • Keep clear records of trials, decisions, and outcomes so learnings are not lost.

Success Indicators

  • Initiatives move steadily from idea to adoption rather than stalling.
  • New tools are embedded smoothly, with teams actually using them and manual effort reduced.
  • Trials are run quickly, with clear evidence behind every keep-or-kill decision.
  • Teams see the Innovation Lab as a practical, responsive partner.
  • Measurable efficiency gains are delivered and clearly reported.

Candidate Profile

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Experience delivering technology, automation, or process-improvement projects.
  • Good working knowledge of AI, automation, and workflow tools, with the appetite to keep learning.
  • Strong organisational and project management skills, able to juggle several initiatives at once.
  • Confident working across teams and managing stakeholders at all levels.
  • Practical, delivery-focused mindset that gets things finished.
  • Clear communicator, able to explain technical ideas in plain language.

Desirable Attributes

  • Experience in global marketing, creative production, or a technology-driven service business.
  • Hands-on experience running trials or rolling out new tools to a team.
  • Curiosity about emerging technology and a habit of testing things out.
