By joining our elite Water Quality team, you will dive into a world of sophisticated science, performing both routine and non-routine trace analysis using cutting-edge analytical instrumentation. Your day-to-day will go far beyond the bench, involving complex data interpretation, equipment maintenance, and the strategic organization of workloads. You will play a pivotal role in the future of our operations by assisting in the implementation of innovative methodologies that set new industry standards.

To thrive in this environment, you should hold a minimum of an NVQ Level 3 or an equivalent scientific qualification, paired with an insatiable curiosity for scientific discovery.

You will be working within market-leading laboratories that are currently undergoing an ambitious expansion. Our modern facilities are designed to foster collaboration, and we empower every team member to share ideas that help us refine our processes. This role operates between the hours of 8 am and 8 pm, with a standard shift typically running from 10 am to 8 pm, offering a structured yet dynamic environment where your contributions are truly valued.

Main responsibilities

  • Ensure that instrumentation is operated and analysis performed in line with the Laboratory Management system.
  • Assist with the maintenance and troubleshooting of Chromatographic, Spectrophotometric, Colorimetric and preparatory equipment.
  • Analyse and interpret data, calculate results and complete all laboratory paperwork.
  • Document information by maintaining daily logs and equipment record books.
  • Ensure data is accurately entered into the Laboratory Information Management System within set timeframes.
  • Ensure that the sample stability and turnaround for the given analysis is met.
  • Help to prepare standards, reagents and Quality Control Samples in accordance with company internal procedures.
  • Work towards being a competent person according to Regulation 16(2)(d)(i) of the Water Supply (Water Quality) Regulations 216 (as amended) and to actively pursue Continued Professional Development.
  • Always maintain good laboratory practice and housekeeping.
  • Support in method validation when required.
  • To participate in the auditing of internal practices to ensure compliance to the management system.

Skills / Qualifications / Experience

  • Have existing knowledge of good laboratory practice.
  • Had a relevant academic qualification or scientific subject at NVQ level 3 equivalent or above.
  • Be working towards full membership of the professional body.
  • Have excellent numeracy, literacy, computer literacy and laboratory skills to engage in robust analytical laboratory practice.
