Insights & Strategy Director

We're on the lookout for a Insights & Strategy Director, to play a leading role in building the intelligence engine for Impatient Health.

Only the curious need apply.

We're looking for someone who’s comfortable running client research projects and owning client relationships. To succeed, you’ll need to bring rigour and creativity in equal measure, ensuring that the strategic insight work we do is best in class.

You'll be the senior researcher our internal teams and our clients rely on, bringing a fresh, evidence-led perspective on the future of our industry. Working within this role will give you insight into the most exciting developments in life science innovation, from medicines R&D to health equity, and artificial intelligence to health geopolitics. Often, you’ll be speaking with the senior executive responsible for making change happen, providing critical strategic insights to change our clients’ businesses for the better.

Why We Exist

Pharma does work that matters more than almost any other industry, but it's also one of the most traditional, risk-averse and slow-moving sectors on earth.

The result is that brilliant science doesn't always translate into real-world impact. Drugs that should change practice often don't. Launches underperform their data. The gap between what's possible and what actually happens is enormous.

We exist to close that gap and create change in pharma. We bring together the people, ideas and evidence to challenge our industry to do better for patients. We do that through events (including Pharmageddon, the industry's flagship gathering for innovation) and through consulting work that helps pharma companies operate differently. Research is the intelligence engine that powers it all, getting right to the heart of how change actually happens.

We're a small but rapidly growing company with some unique assets: we know everyone in pharma, we're independent, and we have a CEO who's one of the most recognised disruptors in the industry. That gives us a platform very few companies have.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

What You'll Be Up To

  • Leading client research projects, end to end. Take ownership of strategic insight work for senior pharma clients, from designing the right approach through to translating findings into the decisions, directions or briefs that clients can actually act on. We're not in the business of producing reports that get filed; our work lands.
  • Translating insight into action. Our practice is built on the principle that insight isn't the deliverable, the decision is. You'll be working at the synthesis end, helping clients see what to do next and giving them the confidence to do it.
  • Using the right mix of methods. We work across peer-network research (our Inner Circle of pharma innovators) and secondary analysis to deliver forward thinking research and real client value. You should be comfortable with a blended approach to insight rather than a methodological purist.
  • Converting opportunities into business. We have a big profile, an active community and dedicated sales team. We have new business opportunities that need to be converted through hustle, hunger and credible client know-how.
  • Shaping the practice as we grow. This is a senior role, with real voice in how research supports everything we do. You’ll determine the methods we develop, the kinds of work we take on, the propositions we go to market with.
  • Powering our thought leadership. We make bold statements about the future of pharma, challenging it to do better. It’s crucial that it is grounded in evidence and a theory of change that holds water. You’ll lead the intelligence engine behind this helping us communicate with style, as well as authority.

About You

  • You've established yourself as a senior within insights and strategy. You've worked in pharma, life sciences or healthcare insights for several years. You understand how the industry works, who the buyers are, and what good strategic insight looks like in this context. This is not the right role for someone who wants to learn pharma on the job. You bring genuine expertise, ideally with a strong lifecycle focus within Commercial.
  • You think strategically, not just methodologically. You're as interested in what the insight means and what we do about it as you are in how the data was gathered.
  • You're a strong communicator, especially with senior stakeholders. You have strong opinions and can hold your own in a room with a Global Head of Medical Affairs or a Marketing Director, and translate complex findings into clear, confident, strategic direction.
  • You’re as comfortable delivering a presentation as you are pitching a proposal. You’ve owned key client relationships and final oversight for deliverables, and you’ve also either played a key supporting role within Business Development, or owned it.
  • You're a connector. Senior research work in pharma is a relationship business. We're not interested in people who can do brilliant analysis but can't build trust.
  • You're comfortable with ambiguity. We're a small firm in the middle of a strategic repositioning. The role will evolve, the proposition is sharpening as we go. You should find that exciting rather than uncomfortable.
  • You take ownership. Senior people at Impatient operate with a high degree of autonomy. We'll back you, but you should expect to lead, not wait for direction.
