Inspection Lead
Job Title: Inspection Lead
Working Pattern: Days – 5 days per week Working Location: RRSL - Raynesway
The Inspection Lead role within Performance & Improvement is accountable for Inspection skills, competency and compliance across the Rolls-Royce Submarines business.
Reporting into the Manufacturing Engineering function via the Chief Metrologist, the role interfaces with multiple functions including:
- Operations
- Quality
- Manufacturing Engineering
- Manufacturing Services
The Inspection Lead develops and deploys Inspector Training across the business to manage and improve competency of the Inspection population, whilst monitoring and improving compliance with key corporate and regulatory requirements.
The role is accountable for ensuring the population of Inspector and Certified Operator stamp holders are compliant, through:
- Training
- Competency assessment
- Re-validations
The Inspection Lead:
- Is the functional owner of key processes within the Rolls-Royce Management System.
- Provides Technical Governance through review, assurance and formal audit.
- Owns and develops the strategy for continuous improvement and long-term strategic improvements of the Inspection discipline.
- Acts as a Subject Matter Expert for Inspection related questions and advice, both within Rolls-Royce and the External Supply Chain.

What You Will Be Doing
With this attractive opportunity, you will get the chance to:
- Work with a wide range of stakeholders across the business to develop and deploy improvements to Inspection capability across Submarines and wider Rolls-Royce Group.
- Define strategy and implement improvements in Inspection capability, across:
- People
- Process
- Tools
- Develop skills and competence in:
- Inspection
- Metrology
- Calibration (with opportunities for future progression)
- Provide governance and gain delegations for Metrology and Calibration activities.

To excel in this position, you must:
- Have a good working knowledge of Inspection processes used within the Submarines business or a similar manufacturing environment.
- Have experience in:
- Developing and deploying training material
- Capability assessments
- Exhibit excellent interpersonal skills to interface with stakeholders at all levels within the business.
- (Preferable:) Experience as an Auditor or Lead Auditor, with knowledge of key Quality processes and tools.
- (Advantageous:) Practical experience of inspection methods and tools.
