Installation Manager | Renewable Energy & Residential Solar

Location: Kent & Oxford (UK) / On-Site (5 days per week)
Employment Type: Full-Time

About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Installation Manager to lead the end-to-end delivery of residential solar and battery installation projects. This role is responsible for ensuring installations are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and to the highest quality standards while delivering an exceptional customer experience.

The successful candidate will coordinate installers, subcontractors, logistics providers, and internal stakeholders to manage the complete installation lifecycle from project handover through to successful completion and customer sign-off.

Key Responsibilities

Installation Delivery & Scheduling

  • Manage the full residential installation lifecycle from project handover to completion.
  • Review and approve Bills of Materials (BOMs) and coordinate installation scheduling.
  • Allocate resources and coordinate installers, scaffolding contractors, logistics providers, and internal teams.
  • Ensure materials, equipment, and documentation are prepared and available ahead of installation dates.
  • Issue job packs, contractor work orders, and installation instructions through operational systems.

Technical & Operational Oversight

  • Maintain strong knowledge of residential solar PV and battery storage systems.
  • Review site requirements, installation scope, and design documentation.
  • Support field teams in resolving installation challenges and technical issues.
  • Verify installation completion, commissioning records, testing results, and project documentation.

Customer Experience

  • Act as the primary customer contact throughout the installation process.
  • Proactively communicate timelines, progress updates, and any schedule changes.
  • Manage escalations professionally and ensure customer expectations are met.
  • Oversee project closeout activities, certification processes, and customer handovers.

Continuous Improvement & Compliance

  • Collaborate with Sales, Operations, Quality, and Compliance teams to ensure seamless project delivery.
  • Identify opportunities to improve installation efficiency, quality, and scalability.
  • Promote safe working practices and adherence to regulatory and industry standards.
  • Support audits, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

Essential

  • Qualified Electrician (NVQ Level 3, 18th Edition BS7671, or equivalent).
  • Experience managing residential installations, field operations, or project delivery.
  • Strong planning, scheduling, and organisational skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Proven customer-focused approach.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Interest in renewable energy and sustainable technologies.

Desirable

  • NICEIC Qualified Supervisor (QS) status.
  • Solar PV and/or battery storage installation experience.
  • Knowledge of health & safety, contractor management, and compliance requirements.
  • Experience using project management or field-service management systems.
