About the Role
At Babcock, we’re delivering solutions that safeguard national security and capability. As an Installation Technician, you’ll play a key role in designing, installing, and delivering critical systems that support essential infrastructure.
This exciting opportunity is based in Ashchurch, near Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire. You’ll be part of our Mission Systems business, collaborating with skilled professionals to install, configure, and commission cutting-edge electrical, mechanical, and integrated systems. You’ll support critical national projects, work across diverse environments (including international assignments), and contribute to outcomes that respect national security.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, test, and commission electrical, mechanical, and integrated systems per project specifications
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues during installation, commissioning, or system integration phases
- Follow health, safety, and regulatory procedures to ensure safe on-site operations
- Collaborate with teams, suppliers, and end-users—local and overseas—to deliver high-quality outcomes
- Document and review work* in alignment with technical and project requirements
- Continue professional development through on-the-job training and mentorship

This role is full-time (37 hours/week), based at Ashchurch, Gloucestershire.
Essential Experience & Qualifications
Experience Required
✔ Systematic understanding of HSE regulations and policies ✔ Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Word, SharePoint, and Excel ✔ Strong credit with practical problem-solving skills ✔ Ability to build working relationships and adapt quickly with minimal instruction
Technical Qualifications
✔ A working 18th Edition (BS 7671) Electrical Installation Certification (preferred) or evidence of progression towards certification ✔ City & Guilds 2392 Level 3 Certificate in inspection and testing of electrical installations ✔ Successful completion of a time-served UK electrical apprenticeship or equivalent experience ✔ A full UK driving licence
Security Clearance
- Must meet Sole UK National requirements
- Successful candidates must achieve and maintain Developed Vetting (DV) clearance.
