Instructional Aide – Cornerstone Academy, Westerville, OH

ACCEL Schools is seeking an Instructional Aide at Cornerstone Academy, an award-winning, top-performing charter school located in Westerville, OH.

Cornerstone Academy serves Northeast Columbus with a specialized K-12th grade, college-prep education. Key offerings include:

About the Opportunity

This role supports teachers in the classroom, assisting with student engagement, discipline, and safety. The Instructional Aide will:

  • Help maintain an effective, positive school climate and reinforce learning objectives
  • Adhere to the ACCEL Schools mission, local board policies, and Ohio Board of Education requirements
  • Provide flexibility to support both academics and extracurricular initiatives

Ideal candidates are problem-solving individuals who thrive in a fast-paced educational setting.


Responsibilities

The Instructional Aide will perform a range of duties, including:

  • Academic Support

    • Assisting the teacher in delivering direct instruction to individual or small groups of students
    • Implementing lesson plans as directed by the teacher
    • Using technology resources available in the classroom
  • Student Engagement & Behavior Management

    • Promoting positive behavioral practices in a supportive environment
    • Handling traditional classroom duties such as grading, organization, and arranging materials
  • Additional School Responsibilities

    • Attending school meetings, assemblies, and functions as requested
    • Chaperoning special events or field trips
    • Performing morning/afternoon supervision duties, including lunches

About You

Qualifications and Requirements Apply if you meet the following criteria:

  • Education (one of the following):

    • Associate degree
    • Two years of college coursework
    • Successful completion of the Paraprofessional’s Exam
  • Technical Skills

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
    • Attendance at required ACCEL School professional development during any given school year
  • Clearances

    • Successful completion of BCI/FBI fingerprint background check
  • Standards & Competencies

    • Fulfillment of applicable educational and teacher career regulation standards
    • Compliance with Ohio Department of Education regulations
    • Demonstrated proficiency in school safety, conflict resolution, and child development principles
  • Supporting Attributes

    • Ability to manage student demographics and diverse learning needs with patience
    • Comfort handling small school movements, including movement around buildings
    • Strong adherence to confidentiality protocols and a history of exemplary ethical conduct
