Multiple Locations across Edinburgh
Salary: £36,687 - £48,762 per annum Hours: 35 per week
About the Role
An exciting opportunity to teach upper strings lessons in schools across Edinburgh while being part of a vibrant Music Service. We are seeking a highly skilled Instrumental Music Instructor — passionate, driven, and committed to delivering outstanding learning experiences for pupils.
The successful candidate will bring:
- Proven experience in instrumental music teaching
- Comprehensive knowledge of the current curriculum, including preparation for SQA and external exams
- Strong ability to work with individual pupils, groups, and ensembles
Key Responsibilities
- Teaching instrumental music lessons (upper strings) to pupils across Edinburgh schools
- Supporting learners in meeting curriculum objectives and preparing for external assessments
- Collaborating with colleagues to enrich pupils’ music education
- Maintaining up-to-date records and assessments for performance tracking
Requirements
Essential Skills & Experience
- A strong ** background in instrumental teaching**, particularly upper strings
- Knowledge of the Scottish curriculum and exam standards (SQA)
- Ability to engage pupils with dynamic teaching methods and positive reinforcement
- Experience working in a school setting or with young learners

Legal & Security Compliance
- Regulated work with children under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007
- Preferred: Ability to join or update the PVG Scheme
- If applicable, an Overseas Criminal Record Check for continuous absences from the UK may be required
- Successful completion of pre-employment background checks is mandatory
