Insurance Claims Handler
Claims Handler Position – Legal Services Team
We’re looking for a Claims Handler to join our Legal Services team, managing legal expenses insurance claims from initial set-up to conclusion.
About the Role
The core function of this role is to:
- Set up, assess, and handle claims for legal expenses insurance clients
- Manage administration in compliance with internal policies, procedures, and regulatory frameworks
This is an excellent opportunity to develop claims expertise within a supportive yet fast-paced environment, working closely with customers, solicitors, and key stakeholders.
Working arrangements: Flexible hybrid model – three days from home, two days at the Bradley Stoke office.

Key Responsibilities
Claims Handling & Assessment
- Review and assess claims to ensure they meet policy criteria
- Refer claims to panel solicitors in line with policy terms and declare unsuitable claims
- Manage customer expectations regarding process and timelines from start to finish
Documentation & Compliance
- Identify missing information from client documentation to progress assessments
- Provide policy guidance to clients, colleagues, partners, and solicitors
Relationship Management
- Build and maintain relationships with clients, panel solicitors, and corporate partners to enhance service quality
Administrative & Financial Duties
- Ensure authorised costs and accruals are updated consistently and accurately
- Proactively manage billing processes, including data reconciliation and timely payments
- Review and challenge all received bills for accuracy

Requirements
Preferred Knowledge
- A good working knowledge of legal expenses insurance (home & motor) products (training provided if selected)
Essential Skills & Experience
- Ability to organise and manage workloads with minimal supervision
- Exceptional written and telephone communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office tools & applications
- Understanding of Data Protection regulations and compliance obligations
- Experience working in a team and independently, meeting strict deadlines
- Commercial awareness
Desirable
- Minimum of 6 months’ experience in a regulated claims environment
