We do things well and keep developing.
Teignbridge District Council is on an exciting path of transformation through our Modern 25 programme. We are implementing a revised operating model, digital and people strategies alongside transforming other areas of the Council and its operations.
A key part of the digital agenda is the enhancement, robustness and security of finance data to business intelligence from our finance system and the use of Microsoft 365 technologies. This will provide an opportunity to explore how wider digital integration could be improved for the benefit of decision making and efficiency.
About The Role
As an Insurance Officer, you will oversee and manage the Council's Insurance function, helping to ensure that insurance claims are managed efficiently and in line with financial regulations and best practice.
Working within the Systems & Transaction team, you will handle insurance claims from initial notification through to resolution. This will include liaising with internal colleagues and a range of external partners such as insurance brokers, insurers, claims handlers, solicitors and loss adjusters to progress claims effectively.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
