We are working with a rapidly growing insurer seeking a Technical Underwriter. This role will join our Commercial & Specialty team in a newly created role, reporting directly to the Chief Underwriting Officer.

Working alongside our three Portfolio Managers, you'll be responsible for driving technical underwriting excellence, strengthening governance and ensuring our products, wordings and underwriting standards continue to evolve with the market.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide technical oversight across Commercial & Specialty lines, with a focus to PI, D&O and Financial Lines.
  • Act as the technical referral point for complex underwriting decisions.
  • Support and challenge Portfolio Managers to maintain underwriting discipline.
  • Develop and maintain underwriting standards, appetite and technical guidance.
  • Review policy wordings, products and delegated underwriting arrangements.
  • Ensure underwriting practices remain aligned with regulatory and market developments.
  • Work across the business to improve governance, processes and underwriting quality.

What we are looking for

  • 10+ years' commercial underwriting experience.
  • Previous experience in a Technical Underwriting or Senior Underwriting role.
  • Strong Professional Indemnity expertise is required.
