Context of the Role This trainee role involves working whilst training within the Wordings Team in the London Office, providing support to the team. The Wordings Team is made up of the Head of Wordings and two other Wordings Technicians with legal qualifications.

The role involves a high degree of ‘on-the-job’ learning and therefore requires good listening skills and commitment to the role and the training that goes with it. This position also involves working closely and building relationships with other teams within Faraday therefore good communication skills are essential. It is an excellent foundation for building a career in wordings in the London Market.

The trainee role requires the ability to respond to incoming requests to review and amend contract wordings and perform contract certainty checks, managing the demands of both internal and external clients in a timely manner within both pre-set and self-set deadlines. Good organisational skills are essential to be able to manage the work.

The candidate needs to be flexible, reliable and able to work under close supervision as well as on their own. Attention to detail is paramount. The aim is that the candidate will eventually develop sufficient knowledge to fulfil the role.

Main Purpose of Role To gain knowledge and experience working within the Wordings Team across all lines of business and to assist in providing an excellent wordings review service to Faraday’s underwriters.

Key Responsibilities Carrying out all aspects of drafting, reviewing and the agreement of contract wordings, these are predominately for the US but also includes UK and International. All work will be fully monitored by the Head of Wordings and subject to ‘on-the-job’ training; Under supervision, conduct contract certainty checks in accordance with Lloyd’s Guidelines and FCA Guidelines and to assist Underwriters pre-bind in an accurate and in a timely manner; Keeping up to date with legal and regulatory issues affecting Faraday’s wordings; Maintenance of the Faraday database of Wordings and Clauses; Under supervision and on an adhoc basis, assist in the drafting, reviewing and agreement of wordings in respect of Aviation, US and International Property Treaty, Direct and Facultative Insurance and Reinsurance, Professional and Financial Lines and International Casualty, including Binding Authorities and Lineslips. This cross-training will harmonise the Wordings Team to cover all classes of business and will provide diversification to the role; Monitoring of outstanding wordings with internal and external clients; Keeping up to date with Lloyd’s Market News and current hot topics regarding Legal, Compliance and Wording Clause related issues; Use of internal and external systems and databases such as Lloyd’s Contract Confidence, Sequel, Workflow, Crystal, X-Changing Market Wordings Library and Lloyds Wordings Repository.

Candidate Experience and Behavioural Competencies Experience of using Lloyd’s Contract Confidence, Sequel, Workflow, Crystal, X-Changing Market Wordings Library and Lloyds Wordings Repository an advantage but not essential.
