Integration Architect - 12 Month Fixed Term Contract
The Solution Architect plays a vital role in shaping and delivering solutions that deliver business value and align with Primark’s strategic goals. Acting as a bridge between business needs and technical execution, the role exists to ensure that solutions are well-architected and future-fit.
By collaborating closely with product and/or project teams, stakeholders, and delivery partners, the Solution Architect drives clarity, coherence, and quality across the solution design lifecycle, enabling faster decision-making, reduced risk, and greater value delivery.
The Solution Architect is delivery focused with strategic awareness; their day-to-day focus is on execution. They ensure the success and quality of architectural deliverables for individual platforms, products or projects and ensure their alignment to broader domain and business strategy. Solution Architects are embedded within one or multiple product or project teams for the lifecycle of a solution delivery and operate as part of that product/project team leading technology selection and design and supporting delivery and test cycles.
The Solution Architect's purpose is to define & document solution designs based on business, functional, and non-functional requirements, provide architectural governance in delivery to oversee the solution quality, provide oversight of low-level designs, produce key design options with recommendations to solve the specific business problems/objectives, all in alignment with Primark's Design Guardrails and Principles.

- Lead the design of end-to-end technical solutions that meet business, functional, and non-functional requirements, and is aligned with enterprise architecture and domain strategy.
- Lead architectural governance during delivery, ensuring compliance with design guardrails, standards, processes and principles, and present at Architectural forums.
- Lead creation of and maintain accurate and up to date documentation of solution architecture, including solution blueprints, key design decisions, re-usable patterns, and technology choices. Ensure critical knowledge is retained, accessible and shared within Primark.
- Lead the definition of non-functional requirements (e.g. performance, availability, security).
- Lead the shaping of solution options and evaluating trade-offs in collaboration with product and domain teams.
- Provide technical direction and assurance across the full solution lifecycle - from shaping budgets and vendor proposals through to low-level design and delivery oversight - ensuring designs are implemented correctly, efficiently and cost-effectively.
- Contribute to risk identification and mitigation planning, especially around technical feasibility and scalability.
- Contribute to solution handover planning, ensuring operational readiness and supportability post-delivery
- Contribute to technology roadmaps and the evolution of architecture practices
Qualifications
What You’ll Bring

- Deep understanding of solution architecture principles, frameworks (e.g. TOGAF), and best practices.
- Excellent collaboration skills with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to technical and non-technical peers and stakeholders alike
- Proven Integration Architecture experience designing and governing enterprise integrations across cloud, on‑premise, and hybrid environments, including ownership of HLDs, LLDs, sequence diagrams, data flows, and non‑functional requirements.
- Proven ability to design and deliver enterprise integrations using Azure Integration Services, leveraging API Management, Logic Apps, Service Bus, Functions, and event‑driven patterns to build secure, scalable, and resilient cloud‑native integration solutions
- Deep ESB experience, including mediation, transformation, routing, orchestration, error handling, retries, and resiliency — with the ability to translate these patterns appropriately into microservices and AIS equivalents.
- Provide direction; oversight and approvals for integration design, data flows, API strategy, and platform usage across multiple systems.
- Serve as the technical authority on integration principles, security models, performance optimisation, and best‑practice standards
- API strategy and governance expertise, covering: REST/JSON (and SOAP where required); Versioning, lifecycle management, and deprecation; Security (OAuth2, OIDC, JWT, mTLS); Throttling, rate limiting, and consumer management
