Solution Architect - Contract
📍 Remote | 💰 Rate: TBC | ⏳ 3 Months (Contract - covering a resource gap)
Oliver James has partnered with a fast-growing technology consultancy specialising in integration and automation, helping organisations modernise their technology landscape - from replacing legacy point-to-point integrations to enabling self-service automation and Agentic AI strategies.
We're looking for an experienced Solution Architect to join a live integration project on an initial 3-month contract, covering a gap in the team. This is a hands-on role for someone who has already operated at Solution Architect level and can hit the ground running - leading requirement and solution design sessions and building out a new application with no existing system of record to migrate from.
The Role
You'll lead the design and documentation of end-to-end integration solutions, run requirement and solution-gathering workshops directly with stakeholders, and work closely with development teams to deliver against agreed architecture. The core of this engagement is building out the full lifecycle of an insurance and/or annuity policy as a new application - there's currently no system or process in place, so this is greenfield design work rather than integrating with an established system of record.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
