Overview
Cambridge Aerospace are looking for an experienced Integration & Test Engineer to lead and deliver the hands-on assembly, integration, and verification of Solid Rocket Motors (SRMs). You will play a critical role between design, manufacturing, test, and systems engineering. Taking ownership of end-to-end motor build and test readiness, from receipt of components through to final acceptance testing, while providing technical leadership during integration campaigns, ground tests, and anomaly investigations.
Responsibilities
- Lead the assembly and integration of solid rocket motors, including cases, insulation systems, propellant grains, nozzles, igniters, instrumentation, and ancillary hardware.
- Develop, review, and approve AIT (Assembly-Integration-Test) build procedures and work instructions for SRM hardware.
- Act as the technical authority on the shop floor during critical integration and test operations.
- Plan and execute acceptance, functional, and qualification testing of SRMs and subsystems.
- Support static firing campaigns, including pre-test preparation, instrumentation checkout, and post-test inspection and data correlation.
- Lead failure investigation and non-conformance resolution following test anomalies or build deviations.
- Work closely with systems, mechanical, energetics, materials, and manufacturing engineering teams to ensure designs are buildable, testable, and safe.
- Provide early AIT input into design reviews (PDR/CDR) to drive DFMA and testability.
- Maintain high standards of quality assurance, documentation, and traceability across all AIT activities.

Requirements
- Educational background in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Previous experience in AIT, Manufacturing, or Test of complex aerospace or defence hardware (such as Pyrotechnic, Explosives, Propellant or other relevant energetic devices).
- Proven ability to operate safely in high-risk, safety-critical environments.
- Proven ability to interpret and correlate hot-fire test data with analytical models.
- Proficient in Siemens NX
- Proficient in TeamsCenter PLM
Preferred Qualifications/Experience
- Direct experience working with solid rocket motors, propulsion systems, or energetic devices.
- Experience supporting static motor testing or propulsion ground test campaigns.
- Familiarity with instrumentation, data acquisition, and post-test inspection techniques.
