About the Role

We prioritise raw capability over tenure. This is an ideal launchpad for intellectually exceptional individuals looking to bridge the gap between the classroom and the boardroom.

Crown Fund is coalescing a premier Quantum Risk as a Service (QRaaS) platform to redefine enterprise-grade risk simulation for insurers, hedge funds, and infrastructure investors. We seek an exceptional Data Science & Systems expert to join our founding team, shaping core infrastructure and delivering mission-critical simulation capabilities at institutional scale.

This is an opportunity to help define a new class of financial modeling infrastructure from the ground up, combining advanced data science, machine learning, and high-performance systems to power quantum-class risk simulation engines for central banks, insurers, and hedge funds.

The ideal candidate is an elite builder, someone who can architect complex technical systems, contribute to our core infrastructure, and thrive in a fast-paced, high-autonomy startup environment.

Compensation

Based on expected average performance benchmarks, On-Target Earnings (OTE) are projected at £45,000 - £60,000 annually.

Principal Responsibilities

  • IP Identification & Sourcing: Identify, map, and rigorously document proprietary algorithms, machine learning models, and core infrastructure developed within the QRaaS platform.
  • IP Protection Strategy: Lead the internal strategy for safeguarding the company’s technical assets, including trade secrets, software copyrights, and patentable quantum-class risk models.
  • Commercialisation Alignment: Support pricing, licensing, and go-to-market strategies by ensuring Crown Fund’s intellectual property is properly structured for institutional commercialisation and enterprise valuation.
  • External Advisory Management: Build and manage relationships with external ecosystem players, including independent valuation consultants, IP legal counsel, and regulatory bodies.
  • IP Structuring & Compliance: Lead the structuring of IP assignment deeds, data licensing agreements, and support compliance execution in collaboration with engineering and leadership teams.
  • Asset Value Growth: Drive consistent enterprise value generation through the continuous mapping, protection, and formal valuation preparation of internally generated technical assets.
  • Internal Stakeholder Management: Maintain deep alignment with the engineering and data science teams to ensure all newly developed risk simulation capabilities are immediately captured in the internal IP registry.
  • IP Market Intelligence: Continuously gather insights on competitor patents, open-source compliance, and emerging trends in fintech IP, risk modeling, and financial infrastructure protection.
  • Technical Positioning: Represent Crown Fund’s proprietary technology in external engagements, contributing to technical due diligence, thought leadership, and market positioning.
  • IP Infrastructure Growth: Contribute to refining internal IP tracking processes, technical documentation systems, and scalable IP governance infrastructure.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
