About the Role
To apply for this position, you must be PGY4+. This is a full-time position starting 1 February 2027, with a potential extension of up to 12 months.

North Canberra Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is a tertiary-level unit that handles 600+ adult patients annually. The unit is CICM-accredited for foundation training (currently applying for C6 accreditation). Trainees gain broad exposure to critically ill patients across 10 physical beds, with plans for hospital expansion in the next five years.
This role is a Transitional Year (F2) in North Canberra ICU, acting as a bridge between registrar and consultant positions. It offers:
- Flexibility and graded responsibility
- Development of clinical autonomy
- Growth of research, education, and administrative skills
Suitable applicants must meet CICM criteria for Transitional Year by February 2027, including:
- Registration with CICM
- Completion of CICM Part 2
- Fulfillment of all rotational requirements
- Submission of a formal clinical project
