Interim Audit Manager – Funded Institutions

(Universities & Charities)

Contract: 5 Weeks (2 Weeks Part-Time, followed by 3 Weeks Full-Time)

Start Date: ASAP

Location: Remote/Hybrid (UK)

Rate: Competitive PAYE Day Rate

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Interim Audit Manager to support the delivery of internal audits for funded institutions, including universities, higher education providers, charities, and other not-for-profit organisations.

This is an immediate requirement, initially for 2 weeks on a part-time basis, followed by 3 weeks full-time to complete audit delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and deliver audit engagements for funded institutions.
  • Manage audits from planning through to completion.
  • Review financial statements prepared under FRS 102 and Charity SORP where applicable.
  • Identify key audit risks and evaluate internal controls.
  • Review audit work completed by junior team members and provide technical guidance.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships throughout the audit process.
  • Ensure audit files are completed to a high standard and in line with professional and regulatory requirements.
  • Deliver audit assignments within agreed deadlines.

Essential Requirements

  • ACA or ACCA qualified (or equivalent).
  • Recent audit experience gained within an accountancy practice.
  • Proven experience leading audits for funded institutions, including:
    • Universities
    • Higher Education Institutions
    • Charities
    • Not-for-Profit organisations
  • Strong knowledge of UK GAAP (FRS 102) and Charity SORP.
  • Ability to work autonomously and hit the ground running.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
