Interim Deputy Headteacher (Special School - SLD) | Cambridgeshire
Start: September 2026 (ASAP thereafter) | Full-time | Interim to Easter 2027
Panoramic Associates is exclusively partnering with an established special school in Cambridgeshire, supporting children and young people aged 5-19 with Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) and associated complex needs, with their search for an experienced Interim Deputy Headteacher to join from September 2026.
The Role
This is a key interim appointment, providing operational leadership across the school and supporting the Headteacher and wider leadership team. You will be a visible, trusted senior leader who can hit the ground running, helping to maintain a calm, consistent and positive culture for pupils and staff.

Responsibilities will include:
- Providing day-to-day operational leadership and capacity across the school
- Maintaining a visible leadership presence, championing the school's ethos and standards
- Supporting and, where required, overseeing safeguarding matters, including more complex cases
- Leading and supporting staff, including line management responsibilities
- Supporting the wider team with ad hoc teaching and occasional operational duties as needed
The initial contract is expected to run until Easter 2027.
Skills & Experience
We're looking for a professional senior leader with strong special school experience, including:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) - essential
- Significant senior leadership experience within a special school environment
- Strong understanding of pupils with complex SEND, including SLD and associated needs
- Proven experience in operational school leadership and day-to-day management
- Strong safeguarding knowledge and confidence handling complex safeguarding matters
- Experience leading teams, including line management
- A reliable, resilient and credible leader who can quickly provide stability
- A flexible, hands-on approach to support the school wherever needed

Contract Details
- Start date: September 2026 (or as soon as possible thereafter)
- Duration: Interim through to Easter 2027
- Working pattern: Full-time
