About Oddbox

As much as 2.5 billion tonnes of food are wasted globally every year — which plays a big part in the climate crisis. We're on a mission to change that, rescuing fruit and veg from hard-working growers, alongside plastic-free ingredients and products from brands doing good for the planet. With fruit, veg and more delivered right to your door, we're working towards a fairer food system — one where growers are supported and paid fairly, where produce doesn't have to look 'perfect' and, most importantly, a food system where we never waste taste. No more unnecessary air miles or plastic — just delicious food that fights waste with every box.

The Role

We're looking for an interim Director of Product, Tech & Data (PTD) to step in and lead our cross-functional PTD function for around 8 months. This is a full-remit role: you'll own the roadmap, lead the team, represent PTD at leadership level, and keep things moving. We're not looking for someone to shake everything up — we have a strong plan and a strong team. We need someone who can come in, build trust fast, and deliver.

You'll report directly to our CEO, Emilie, and line manage a team of five: our Head of Engineering and 3 Product Managers and a Product Designer.

The PTD team is organised into 3 squads and comprises 21 members, including 13 engineers, 2 data engineers, and 1 manual QA.

Key Responsibilities

  • Line management of the PTD team - building trust quickly and supporting PMs at different stages of their careers
  • Accountability for cross-functional roadmap delivery across all PTD squads
  • Engineering leadership alignment — working closely with the Head of Engineering as his escalation point and thought partner
  • LT representation for Product, Tech and Data in fortnightly leadership meetings and beyond
  • Collaboration with other LT members to ensure alignment
  • Leading product discovery and roadmap management across the PM team
  • Quarterly capacity planning
  • Overseeing our AI strategy and roadmap in collaboration with our Head of Engineering
  • Data PM oversight in collaboration with the team
  • Acting as escalation point for scope changes and cross-team prioritization
  • OKR tracking and PTD health metrics
  • Board-level reporting as needed

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

Required Skills

  • Cross-squad product roadmap ownership and delivery — comfortable in both dependency mapping and execution mode

  • Team leadership and line management across multi-level product and engineering functions
  • Executive communication — confident presenting to LT and board level
  • Cross-functional collaboration: aligning engineering, commercial, marketing, and ops around a shared roadmap

Required Experience

  • Proven track record in senior leadership (Director level or equivalent)
  • DTC or subscription-adjacent business experience — you understand how customers think about value, range, and frequency

Mindset & Behaviours

  • Bias to action - comfortable making calls without full information
  • Can create clarity out of ambiguity without creating noise
  • Strong communicator: direct, clear, no fluff
  • Comfortable in a scale-up environment where resources are finite, and hats are many
  • Advocate for the customer, always

Nice to Have

  • Subscription business experience — churn, LTV, skip/pause dynamics, the product levers that drive retention
  • Experience in food, grocery, or FMCG
  • Data or ML product exposure, even if not a specialist
  • Familiarity with modern product development tooling: Looker, Linear, Confluence, Heap or similar

Why Join Us

This is a rare opportunity to step into a Director role at a mission-driven business that genuinely means what it says. You'll lead a talented, motivated team, work directly with the CEO, and have real ownership over delivery during a critical period of growth. The role is full-remit and genuinely impactful - not a seat-warmer position.

We're a team that cares: about the food system, about each other, and about doing things properly. If you're someone who gets energized by meaningful problems and wants to leave things better than you found them, we'd love to hear from you.
