Interim Financial Controller | VC-Backed AI Scale-Up | 6 Month Contract
The Client Harmonic are delighted to be partnering with one of the UK's most exciting AI technology scale-ups to find an Interim Financial Controller for an initial 6-month contract.
Having recently secured significant investment from a number of globally recognised Tier 1 Venture Capital investors, the business is entering a period of rapid growth as it continues to scale both organically and internationally. Their cutting-edge AI platform is transforming the way enterprise businesses leverage automation and machine learning, with an impressive customer base spanning financial services, healthcare and technology.
The Role Working closely with an experienced CFO, this role will play a pivotal part in enhancing financial controls, improving reporting processes and ensuring the finance function is equipped to support a fast-growing, investor-backed organisation.
This is a hands-on role requiring someone who can balance operational finance leadership with process improvement, helping to build scalable finance infrastructure within a rapidly evolving environment.
Responsibilities
- Lead the month-end close process and ensure timely, accurate financial reporting.
- Manage and develop the day-to-day finance function.
- Strengthen financial controls and governance across the business.
- Oversee multi-entity management accounts and consolidations.
- Own cash flow reporting and working capital management.
- Partner closely with department heads to improve financial visibility and reporting.
- Drive improvements across finance systems, processes and controls to support future growth.
- Support budgeting, forecasting and board reporting.
- Assist with year-end audit preparation and external stakeholder requirements.
- Provide ad hoc commercial and strategic support to the CFO.

Essential Skills
- Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA).
- Previous experience as a Financial Controller within a high-growth technology business.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge with experience managing month-end and financial reporting.
- Proven track record of improving finance processes within a scaling organisation.
- Experience operating in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to work closely with senior leadership.
- Hands-on approach with strong attention to detail.

Bonus Experience
- Experience within an AI, SaaS or venture-backed technology business.
- Previous exposure to Series A, B or C funded environments.
- Experience implementing or optimising finance systems.
- International or multi-entity reporting experience.
Day Rate: £450-£600 per day (Outside IR35)
Contract Length: Initial 6-month contract
Location: London (2-3 days per week in the office)
Start Date: Immediate
