Interim Financial Controller (Year-End Audit Support)
Contract: 6 months Location: Central London (Hybrid) Industry: Professional Services Salary: £70,000–£80,000 + Benefits
About the Role
IN2 Consult is assisting a London-based professional services business in hiring an experienced Interim Financial Controller to cover a period of significant change and heightened activity within the finance function.
This is an immediate, hands-on contract opportunity for someone who can quickly integrate into a fast-paced environment, take ownership of key financial processes, and provide leadership and stability to the existing team.
Responsibilities
- Lead the year-end audit process end-to-end, serving as the primary point of contact for external auditors
- Prepare audit schedules, supporting documentation, and deliverables to ensure a smooth audit cycle
- Maintain day-to-day financial accounting activities, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
- Produce and review balance sheet reconciliations and P&L analyses
- Prepare and submit VAT returns
- Support the month-end and year-end close processes
- Assist with audit queries and information requests from external advisors
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior finance team members
- Support financial reporting packs and address any ad hoc deliverables as required

Requirements
- Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent preferred)
- Proven experience in a hands-on financial accounting role, ideally in industry
- Track record of leading audits from inception to completion
- Strong technical accounting skills, including:
- Reconciliation processes
- VAT compliance
- Audit support and documentation
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and deliver high-calibre financial outputs
- Desirable: Prior experience within a professional services (consulting) environment
- Excellent communicator with a proven ability to support and mentor junior team members
- Comfortable thriving in a fast-paced, dynamic environment undergoing rapid change
