Interim Financial Controller (Year-End Audit Support)

Contract: 6 months Location: Central London (Hybrid) Industry: Professional Services Salary: £70,000–£80,000 + Benefits


About the Role

IN2 Consult is assisting a London-based professional services business in hiring an experienced Interim Financial Controller to cover a period of significant change and heightened activity within the finance function.

This is an immediate, hands-on contract opportunity for someone who can quickly integrate into a fast-paced environment, take ownership of key financial processes, and provide leadership and stability to the existing team.


Responsibilities

  • Lead the year-end audit process end-to-end, serving as the primary point of contact for external auditors
  • Prepare audit schedules, supporting documentation, and deliverables to ensure a smooth audit cycle
  • Maintain day-to-day financial accounting activities, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
  • Produce and review balance sheet reconciliations and P&L analyses
  • Prepare and submit VAT returns
  • Support the month-end and year-end close processes
  • Assist with audit queries and information requests from external advisors
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior finance team members
  • Support financial reporting packs and address any ad hoc deliverables as required

Requirements

  • Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent preferred)
  • Proven experience in a hands-on financial accounting role, ideally in industry
  • Track record of leading audits from inception to completion
  • Strong technical accounting skills, including:
    • Reconciliation processes
    • VAT compliance
    • Audit support and documentation
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and deliver high-calibre financial outputs
  • Desirable: Prior experience within a professional services (consulting) environment
  • Excellent communicator with a proven ability to support and mentor junior team members
  • Comfortable thriving in a fast-paced, dynamic environment undergoing rapid change
