Interim Head of Local Marketing & Recruitment

£250-£300 per day (Umbrella)

Brighton (office-based 3 days per week)

Initial 2-month contract moving into a rolling contract

Morgan Hunt are working with a leading higher education organisation to recruit an experienced Interim Head of Local Marketing & Recruitment on an initial two-month contract, with the expectation that the position will continue on a rolling basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for a senior marketing professional to lead an established marketing and recruitment function, driving student recruitment strategy and supporting organisational growth.

The Role

Reporting to the Pro Vice-Chancellor, you will provide strategic leadership across local marketing, outreach and recruitment activities, ensuring campaigns are aligned with wider organisational objectives and deliver measurable results.

You'll lead an established team, work closely with senior stakeholders and play a key role in shaping recruitment strategy across multiple campuses.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the strategic direction of local marketing and student recruitment activities.
  • Manage and develop a team of marketing and recruitment professionals, ensuring high performance and collaboration.
  • Work closely with senior leadership to influence recruitment strategy and organisational priorities.
  • Oversee recruitment marketing campaigns, outreach activity and conversion initiatives.
  • Analyse recruitment performance, market trends and campaign effectiveness to drive continuous improvement.
  • Lead change projects to improve marketing processes, systems and ways of working.
  • Manage budgets and ensure marketing spend delivers maximum return on investment.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders across academic and professional services teams.
  • Ensure marketing activity complies with relevant legislation, policies and sector best practice.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Significant experience in a senior marketing and recruitment leadership role.
  • A proven track record of developing and delivering successful strategic marketing plans.
  • Experience managing and motivating high-performing teams.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence at senior leadership level.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to use data to drive strategic decision-making.
  • Experience managing budgets and delivering measurable outcomes.
  • Previous experience within Higher Education, Further Education or another complex, multi-site organisation would be highly desirable.

Contract Details

  • £250-£300 per day (Umbrella)
  • Based in Brighton (office attendance required 3x a week)
  • Initial 2-month contract with a strong likelihood of extension into a rolling contract
  • Interviews will be taking place between 30th July and 4th August.
  • The successful candidate will be expected to start at the end of the first week of August or the beginning of the second week of August.
